Mastagni Holstedt seeks a law clerk to join its growing Civil Litigation Department at our Sacramento headquarters. The ideal candidate will be either an incoming 3L or post-bar clerk. We are looking for a clerk that is available to work 32 to 40 hour work weeks preferably.

Skills

In addition to having strong academic credentials, the ideal candidate will have excellent writing and research abilities, as well as the ability to prepare and respond to discovery and draft dispositive motions. Experience with California and federal civil litigation is a plus. Clerks should have a willingness to expand knowledge in wage and hour matters, writs of mandate, appellate litigation, general labor litigation, and/or civil litigation. Applicants should be proactive, resourceful, and attentive to detail.

Duties:

• Assist practicing attorneys and partners with case management.
• Research and analyze principles, concepts, codes, statutes, and case law.
• Draft correspondence, memorandums, and legal motions to be used in court proceedings, legal negotiations, or other legal matters. 
• Review, analyze and apply evidence, reports, recordings, witness interviews, or other materials.
• Professionally communicate with clients, courts, defense counsel, or administrative agencies.
• Attend and assist with mediation, arbitration, negotiations, client meetings, or other meetings as required.
• Responsibilities and duties may change based on needs of the Firm.

Compensation:

Base salary: $4,000 - $5,000 / per month commensurate with experience
