Under the direct supervision of a Staff Pharmacist, processes and fills physician orders. The employee is able to take care of patients in all age ranges. Employee performs duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adheres policy and procedures of regulatory agencies. With a valid intern license, may also perform duties of a pharmacy intern as allowed by the Georgia State Board of Pharmacy. Minimum Job Qualifications include current registration with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy, completion of certification exam attempts within specified timeframes, and a High School Diploma or GED. Preferred qualifications include two or more years of hospital experience. The role requires proficiency in entry-level pharmacy technician functions, basic math aptitude, good computer skills, ability to organize workload, and effective communication. Essential tasks include reporting and troubleshooting issues, ensuring timely medication delivery, following phone etiquette, adhering to department policies, utilizing computer systems for nursing inquiries, handling controlled substances securely, managing non-formulary medications, conducting inspections, performing special projects, training personnel, and maintaining workspace cleanliness. Specific responsibilities in the IV Room include preparing IV medications and fluids using aseptic techniques, managing IV stock and supplies, recycling medications, cleaning laminar flow hoods, following USP 797 procedures, assisting with quality assurance tasks, and performing hood maintenance. The job also involves physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs, frequent standing and walking, and requires reading, writing, reasoning, talking, and keyboarding skills.
