The Vehicle Condition Assessor (VCA) position is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by accurately collecting, recording, and communicating information about customer appraisals to Buyers, Sr. Buyers and Purchasing Managers for analysis. VCA’s assist with customer transfers, complete lot merchandising activities, secure vehicles, and assist the Merchandising team with additional daily functions as needed. A VCA may also perform various wholesale auction responsibilities. Duties include conducting accurate vehicle condition assessments, optioning vehicles, imaging vehicles for CarMax websites, completing vehicle secures, walkarounds, assisting merchandising department with inventory and customer transfers, final condition verifications on inventory, preparation and operation of wholesale auctions, lot merchandising, assisting with projects and office duties, onboarding new associates, and completing assigned tasks independently. The role requires exceptional customer service, ability to follow detailed processes, data transcription, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, effective communication, teamwork, completion of required training, and a valid driver’s license. Working conditions include walking, bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, working outdoors in inclement weather, flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and adherence to CarMax policies and dress code.
