Job Description

The Quality Assurance & Control Manager will lead all food safety, QA, and QC operations at two high-volume produce facilities. This role is critical in ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining customer standards, and driving continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee food safety programs aligned with FSMA, HACCP, GMPs, and USDA/FDA standards
  • Lead internal/external audits and third-party compliance reviews
  • Supervise quality control for fresh produce (e.g., asparagus, herbs), including inspections, microbial testing, and corrective actions
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, and production on quality systems
  • Conduct risk assessments and maintain food safety documentation
  • Manage product hold/release protocols and customer complaint resolution
  • Champion employee training, food defense, and pest control programs
  • Interface with suppliers and ensure incoming product quality

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • 5–7+ years in QA/QC and food safety, preferably in fresh produce
  • Strong working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA, GAPs, GMPs, and regulatory audits
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Ability to travel 20%, 1 time/quarter for audits to the 2nd plant, given per diem, hotel etc.
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong follow-through
  • Experience with ERP systems (Famous a plus)
  • Ability to work in hybrid office/production environments and travel occasionally

Compensation:

$90-$115K base plus up to 10% Bonus, up to $120K all in.
